Raised Buddha hand at a temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This particular symbolic hand gesture is known as Abhaya Mudra (Abhaya meaning fearlessness and Mudra meaning 'Seal' or Sign' in Sanskrit) and represents the accomplishment of enlightenment as well as protection, peace, benevolence and the dispelling of fear.
